Your logbook tells your story as a pilot, so don't settle for anything less than the best! Smart Logbook is the number one logbook app, and it's easy to make it yours. Consider taking advantage of our convenient and inexpensive sync service to protect your logbook, so it's always with you whenever and wherever you need it.
Yes! When you install Smart Logbook, it starts in a fully-functional, free trial mode.
You can log 50 hours of flight time with the free trial. Smart Logbook will remind you before your free hours are used up. To see how many are left, go to: More > Purchase (iOS), or ≡ > Purchase info (Android).
The price is $34.99 in the United States, but it is different in each country. To see your local price, go to: More > Purchase (iOS), or ≡ > Purchase info (Android).
If you see the US price instead of a price in your local currency, this usually means that Google Play cannot determine what country you're in. You can fix this by changing your Google Play country..
Note: In Mexico, the price is shown with "$" but is in pesos (not US dollars).
On iOS, open the More tab, select Purchase, and then tap Unlimited Flights.
On Android, tap the ≡ icon on the main screen and select Purchase info, and then tap Purchase Smart Logbook.
Refer to this Apple support page for changing your payment method on iOS, or this Google Play page with instructions for changing your payment method on Android.
You only need to purchase Smart Logbook once. There is a separate (but completely optional) sync subscription that enables the app to automatically sync/back up your flights online.
Yes, future updates are included in the purchase.
No, you only need to purchase the app once, and you can use it on as many devices as you like. However, if you want to use multiple devices at once and have them share data, you'll need to sign up for the sync subscription.
To unlock Smart Logbook on a new iOS device, after purchasing it on another iOS device, open the Purchase screen from the More tab and tap the Restore button at the top right.
On Android, Google Play should find your account's prior purchases and restore them automatically. If it does not, check this FAQ entry for possible solutions.
If you've purchased Smart Logbook on Android and would like to use it on iOS, or vice versa, contact us.
The Smart Logbook sync service automatically syncs your flights online, so they're safe in case your phone is lost, broken, or stolen. It also makes it very easy to transfer your logbook when you upgrade to a new phone. Finally, sync enables you to use Smart Logbook on multiple devices (e.g. phone and tablet) at the same time.
The price is $14.99/year or $1.99/month in the United States. To see your local price, go to: More > Purchase (iOS), or ≡ > Purchase info (Android).
Yes! The sync subscription comes with a generous free trial: the entire first year is free. You'll need to enter payment information upfront, but you won't be charged until the free trial is over.
Each time you log a new flight, it's immediately synced to our servers. You can check your sync status at any time via the Sync Status screen (More > Sync Status on iOS, or ≡ > Settings > Sync status on Android). If your data is not currently in sync with the server, just tap the Sync Now button.
The Smart Logbook sync service uses an encrypted connection (SSL) to transfer your data to and from our servers. The data is securely linked with your sync account to ensure that no one but you can access it. The sync service runs on the Google Cloud Platform, built on the same ultra-reliable and secure infrastructure Google uses for its own services and websites.
Yes, the subscription automatically renews at the end of the subscription period (1 year or 1 month).
The first subscription charge occurs 365 days after you sign up. After that you'll be charged once per year or once per month, depending on which plan you select.
To see your next billing date on iOS, open the Purchases screen and find the date next to your active sync subscription (with the green checkmark). On Android, tap the Manage subscription button on the Purchase Info screen.
Tap Manage Subscription on the Purchases screen. This opens iTunes or Google Play settings, where you can cancel your subscription.
If you cancel the subscription, the sync service still remains enabled for the remainder of the current subscription period. To disable sync, open the Sync Status screen and tap More > Disable Auto Sync (iOS), or ⋮ > Auto sync [uncheck] on Android). You can also request deletion of your data on the sync servers via the Reset Server Data option in the menu.
Note that we are unable to provide a refund for any unused part of a sync subscription period.
Yes, Smart Logbook also provides a manual backup and restore option, at: More > Export > Backup File (iOS), or: ≡ > Settings > Backup & restore (Android). You'll need to remember to make regular backups, store them somewhere safe, and manually copy them to the device you want to restore your data to.
When you purchase Smart Logbook, Google Play syncs the purchase details to other devices that are signed into the same Google account. This does not always happen immediately, so if you've just purchased Smart Logbook on one device, wait an hour or two and then check your second device again.
If your second device has not synced your purchase after several hours, verify that it's signed into the right Google account. On your second device, open the Google Play Store app and tap the ≡ icon in the search box. You'll see your Google account email at the top of the menu. It should be the same account that your Google Play purchase confirmation email was sent to. If not, you'll need to uninstall Smart Logbook (from your second device only), sign into the correct Google account in the Google Play Store app (follow the instructions here), and then reinstall Smart Logbook.
If the Play Store app was already signed into the right Google account, open the ≡ menu in Play Store and select Account, then Order history. Search for Smart Logbook in the list. If it's there, check the Purchase info screen in Smart Logbook again; it should now indicate that you've purchased the app. If not, or if the Play Store app has no record of your purchase, contact me and I'll help you figure it out.
